Salve - Just last week in the Buffalo News Niagara edition there was an article about
Latin being eliminated at the 8th grade level in Lockport City Schools. If this had
happened, it would have been the death knell for the high school Latin program. Latin
teacher Therese Lang led her troops to the Board of Education meeting last Monday -
3/8 - and had numerous speakers selling the value of Latin. Many of these were Latin
students at LHS. The following Wednesday at a budget meeting the board voted
unanimously to leave the Latin program in place. Good news for us in WNY.
